OT 640 Debriefing

  1. Chelsea,

I'm glad you had a great experience in acute care. Although the OT's role focused on increasing function and independence in ADLs in this setting, I think this role greatly applies to all settings for OT. In acute care, OTs role of discharge planning is what makes them unique. I look forward to this on my first Level II. I also need to work on administering MMT and providing the proper grade. It is difficult to practice this on our classmates with normal 5/5 strength. Having a full understanding of the grades will help make learning come easy when you put it to real use on FW. Great video! Hope you're having a fun summer break!

  2. Hi Chelsea,

You did so well at explaining the purpose of OT in the acute care setting. It sounds like you had a wonderful experience at your rotation! Performing an acute care eval and client interview on your own was such a great way to learn, I'm sure. There are so many aspects of acute care that I am anxious to learn about on my Level IIs. I noticed I have trouble giving accurate MMT scores as well. I agree with what Lauren said practicing on classmates. Enjoy your summer break!
